ICC ODI Rankings: Pakistan enters in Top 8 to secure position for Champions Trophy

On 22nd July 2015, ICC updated the ODI rankings of test playing countries and it was a great day for Pakistani cricket fans as their beloved nation had made at the 8th position list throwing back West Indies with a margin of 2 points. Pakistan recently won an ODI series with 3-1 against Sri Lanka on the Lankan soil which gave them boos to come in the top 8.

The world cup 2015 winner, Australia is at the number one position with 129 ratings and my favourite team India is at second position in the list of ICC ODI rankings July 2015.

However, this list is still not the final one on which basis the entry in the Champions Trophy 2016 will be given as West Indies, Zimbabwe and Pakistan are about to play a tri-series in August-September 2015. However, Pakistan board is unsure about this play as the officials may be afraid of losing in the trip-series may not throw them back again.

Earlier Pakistan has slipped to 9th position after losing against Bangladesh in the one day series white wash loss. So, the bi-lateral series against Sri Lanka was a complete do or die position series in which Pakistan came strongly and won it by 3-1.

If Pakistan plays a tri-series with West Indies and Zimbabwe, it will be a vital series of West Indies too and their position will be same as it was of Pakistan against Sri Lanka this month.
